We are very proud to announce that Vo Tat Thang, MiRoR research fellow at the University of Ghent and University Paris Descartes, was awarded the Norman Breslow Prize from the Statistics in Epidemiology section of the American Statistics Association (ASA) for his paper on “Rethinking meta-analysis: addressing problems of non-transportability when combining treatment effects across patient populations”, summarizing his PhD research project.

Every year the Section on Statistics in Epidemiology (SIE) of the ASA invites applications from graduate students in statistics, biostatistics, and epidemiology and awards the best papers. Preference is given to papers with both methodological contributions and substantive epidemiological applications. The top paper is awarded the Norman Breslow Prize with a $1000 stipend. Additional awards consist of $800 to help defray travel costs to the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM), one of the largest statistical events in the world

The 2019 JSM is taking place on July 27-August 1, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. A reception will be held at the Denver meeting to honor award recipients.
